Kickstarter of the week: Lanterns: The Harvest Festival

While writing this I realized I’ve got an unintended Asian┬átheme going on, with Tokaido, Tanto Cuore and now, Lanterns: The Harvest Festival.

This great-looking card game from Foxtrot Games — its second title — celebrates the Chinese harvest festival with a gorgeous display of beautiful lanterns. It’s for 2-4 players and takes about 30 minutes. Your goal is to decorate the palace lake with beautiful floating lanterns. To play, you place cards down on the table. Each card depicts several lanterns of various colors, and each player receives lanterns of that color whenever a card is played. Careful placement will ensure that you get a full set of lanterns — either three pairs or one of every color — and earn points.

But be careful! Each time you place a card down, you’re giving lanterns to your opponents, too. I love strategy games like this, and it looks like Lanterns plays quickly. I’d love to play this and intend to back it.

For being pretty, smart and quick, Lanterns is our Kickstarter of the week.
