   This game is fantastic! It is very challenging and takes a bit to learn but after 5 or 6 practice games we got the gist of how to play. It’s always the way with these types of challenging boardgames. They are next-level when it comes to being stimulating. Thoroughly recommend the game.

   We just created a couple of characters and played the intro called, “To New Roads” with 2-players. Earlier in the day I had played this same item solo. + Character creation is all about a spread of skills…that makes sense. You need to pick at least 5 skills, of which 2 are from your race and 2 are from your class, then whatever else tickles your fancy and hopefully is explained by your character’s background. The process took no more than 15-20 minutes as us new players had to read each of the races, classes, and skill lists. On BoardGameGeek (BGG) the file post by Dice_and_Dragons called, “Character Creation Guide and Sample Characters” is a perfect matrix view of what skills compliment what races and classes. The manual encourages a variety of skills from the five categories (combat, physical, mental, social, utility) and we found that having a ton of overlap with two characters left us only one choice many times during the adventure. If we had had more variety of skills, then we’d have more options. On the flip side, there were reactions to our decisions where if we any character had for example, Agility, then the bad thing did not happen. It was in cases like this that overlap was not bad because it was simply a good skill to have. + Character creation is simple…even for non-roleplayers. 15 to 20minutes. Make your decisions and go from there. Your party will not fail if you don’t have a “tank” class or a “caster” class, as most decision mechanics take into consideration potential party gaps. Thus, just make a character that is fun for you. + This IS a choose your own adventure (CYOA) game. Except better. In CYOA if you make a bad decision you die and have to start rereading again. Here you lose Stamina (sort of works like health) and each time you “die” you lose one of your skills (sort of like lives), but you keep going with the story, you do not start over. And there are things that potentially can help you regain any lost skills or lost stamina throughout. + The story is more mature and not for younger kids like CYOA was designed. But that also doesn’t mean kids cannot enjoy this too. In all cases, this is a very immersive story that is well written. > It is a LOT of reading. Thus if you have a player who doesn’t feel comfortable reading then that is okay, pick someone else to be the primary reader. Players still get to throw in their activation token to make a decision and “lead” the group at different decisions points. + The decision activation token process is pretty ingenious. This removes the alpha-player who wants to tell everyone what they should do and gives everyone a chance to participate. On the flip-side, this means there is less actual “role-playing” as it is really about the group experiencing the story versus individual characters doing amazing things. The other positive about the decision process is that there is zero(0) dice rolling! You decide which decision choice to take (some have skill requirements), then you either reap benefits or “bad” things depending on what you decided. — My teenage boy did kind of wish the decisions were not so scripted, but he understands why they are in order to make this a dungeon master-LESS experience. OVERALL: A great game to take and play on a trip or on a rainy day home from school/work. Just about any time you want to enjoy a good fantasy adventure story.

   I finally made the time to finish up the last part of “Legacy of Dragonholt” – Paper Faces. And despite being a pleasant Hyrrinx (catperson) Wildlander that helped everyone along the way, I somehow got what I think was the darkest ending. I totally didn’t see that coming and was mouth-drop-shocked. Despite my strong desire to press the rewind button, I’m going to use it the backstory for either a solo excursion or running a game of Realms of Terrinoth. Maybe both… Crazy. But awesome! Highly recommended at sale prices ($24-36), MSRP is a bit steep – but if you are hungry for Terrinoth – go for it!
