So I get to review my own present. The game concept is fantastic. Teams/players are given a concept and have to suggest word. The letters in the word are shifted to their side. Opponents do the same and it becomes a tug-of-war of the letters used in the concepts. When one team pulls letters full to its side, the game is decided.

I would have given the game 5 stars but for one reason: the game desperately needs a referee. If the topic is "Pizza toppings" and one side chooses "blueberries" it's a theoretical possibility, but would you really do it? You might like anchovies while others hate it, but ... blueberries? The game's one flaw can be cured with a ref. Then it's fantastic fun.

This set is really excellent! I found all of the pieces to be instantly distinguishable (sometimes it's not clear which piece is the bishop and which piece is the knight in these themed sets), and the detail and style of the set is also really impressive. Being that I'm a longtime fan of media centered around horror and the occult, I felt that I needed a set like this, and I wasn't disappointed in the way that the set paid tribute to the lore of these monsters. The vampires are all depicted as being more civilized with some resembling an ugly Nosferatu-type look and others being the more popular handsome variety, and the werewolves are all much more bestial. The chess board is very nice as well, as it is decorated with Wiccan imagery, and pieces seem to float above the table when they sit on clear spaces.
