   GKR heavy Hitters has glorious painted figurines of mechs designed by a fantastic group of people responsible for the designs of major fantasy movies like lord of the ring and district 9. The game is quick fun that can be changed easily with a little house rules to be more competitive. Multiple options for winning conditions and a two sided board adds variety. I loved this game so much that I designed a new mode with Kaiju monsters attacking for a fun co op experience.

   This game is a great value for the money! This was a birthday present for my gamer husband! He loves Weta products and this game meets Weta high quality standards and is a ton of fun to play!

   We have a gaming group. We meet every week and play anything from Machi Koro to Exploding Kittens. We play a new game every month and think of ourselves as well versed in board and card games. But, boy, we were not prepared for GKR. This game is not for the casual board-game player or a casual board-game group. This is about as hardcore as a board game gets. (Think of that episode of The Big Band Theory where Sheldon Cooper has that zillion-hour board game … yes, it’s that intense!) The unpacking and prep was genuinely a process. After that, we literally took a break for a few days. (No joke!) Likewise, the rule book it truly daunting. We each read and re-read it several times (and then consulted each other just to be sure we were all “on the same page”). The game play is about two hours (but it was longer for us on the first try). So be certain that you have that amount of time to invest (or a very large table on which to leave this until your next game night). Before the start of the game, you create decks. The deck represents your life and when you take damage, you discard from your deck, losing abilities your robot can perform. When you discard your deck entirely, your robot is unable to function and you are eliminated. Turns have five phases: display, movement, combat, tagging, and reset. Likewise, you have five energy per turn to use throughout all phases. The combat here is unique in that it requires line-of-sight to engage. Buildings litter the game-board … these can provide cover. The models are pretty elaborate and cool. (They arrive fully assembled and painted … for which we are wildly grateful!) Overall, this game is super, super, ultra demanding. This is geared toward hardcore players (I mean, we thought we are that … we are sooo not that!) But, it definitely has the potential to be fun. Recommended for very specific players, who enjoy very specific genres, and have an abundance of time and patience. A good game.

    Item arrived on time and in great shape. This is a pricy game, but incredibly fun to play and with amazingly detailed and painted – and GIANT – miniatures. This is a great game for both experienced and inexperienced skirmish/war-gamers. The games are fast, fun, and the rules are straightforward and easy to learn. The universe and gameplay that Weta and Cryptozoic created is a riot; I hope they see more games and content based in the GKR world.

    Excelente juego, aprender las reglas puede ser un poco laborioso al principio, pero una vez que las dominas, el juego se vuelve bastante dinámico y agresivo. En más de una ocasión una jugada puede quedar completamente a merced de la suerte, esto puede gustar a uno, y a otros no tanto. El precio es un poco elevado para un juego de mesa, pero se compensa con el tamaño y calidad de las figuras. Diversión de dos a cuatro jugadores, y cuenta con dos variantes del modo de juego.

    I liked everything.
    Some of the play boards are very slightly curved due to the way they have been sitting in the box. Just lay them out and bend them back slightly with some weight. Figures are excellent, cards are a little thin (get sleeves if you want). You will want a bigger box for the Sweet and Salty expansion (for the extra figures) and for the additional components in the Wasteland add-on. Overall the game is awesome. There are rarely any better made, painted and presented game components. Enjoy – really. Enjoy!

    This game is a lot of fun, clearly time was spent balancing all the weapons. Lots of gotcha moments when combat rolls change the expected outcome. First few rounds go slow, but once everyone knows the rules, the turns are actually pretty quick. Would definitely recommend this to others. Mostly been playing 2 player, but with vaccines we will be playing with others soon.

    Initial set up take a moment to do, but is well worth the time spent. Honestly, compared to other games, it is not that bad. I will say putting everything back in the bock can be tiresome as well since I always forget which robots go where in the case.
