   this backgammon set is lovely!~ everything so well made and so well packaged for shipping. The board pieces are hefty; the doubler is over-sized; and the board itself is large. I am glad i made this purchase and though i did pay more than i had planned, i believe i won’t regret doing so. Some folks may not like the stitched darts on the board, but i do not have a problem with that – the pieces seem to move along just fine. I know that this substantial board will stand the test of time and give us many years of gaming fun.

   Let me start by saying I ended up buying 5 backgammon sets from boardgamesweekly.com, trying to find one that I really liked. And I really wanted this to be the one I kept. The case is nicer than any of the others. It has nice stitching on the outside, the leather on the edges doesn’t look fake, and it has a very solid and sturdy feel. Pieces stay in place when closed, dice do too for the most part, and the shakers are nice too. Because many of the other sets are brown but have non-matching red pieces, I like that this one has black & white for the points and pieces, so it looks visually appealing. Six pieces fit across the board *almost* as snugly as they do in the product picture, which is pretty good. However the one issue I had, and it’s a fairly big one, is that the pieces snag on the edges of the points when sliding them across the board. The pieces themselves are thicker than the others I tried and the edges aren’t very rounded, but also the points are raised above the playing surface. Other boards have stitched points, but the triangle shapes are recessed with the surrounding playing surface slightly raised. If this board had this feature, it would be a real winner for under $100.

   The stitching for the points does not Keep the point edges low enough to slide the checkers unimpeded. You must pick up the checkers to move them even for a short move. Kinda annoying.
   Other than that the board was beautiful.
