   This is a great solitaire or multiplayer worker placement/resource management game. Even though it looks intimidating at first, the mechanics are easy to pick up. You start small, but each turn you’ll get to do bigger and better things, like gathering crops, raising livestock, building structures, colonizing islands, hunting & trapping game, fishing & whaling, raiding & pillaging, trading, and adding experts and special abilities to your clan. Overall, it’s a fantastic simulation of managing a small viking village, without worrying about moving ships and armies around a map.

   My wife and I really enjoy playing this game. Having been fans of Uwe Rosenburg for a long time this is another great entry into his catalogue. The first turn of the first game is very overwhelming trying to figure out what to do. Eventually you just have to do something and see how it goes. After the first couple plays you get a better idea of the kind of moves to focus on.

   There is a bit of luck with some of the dice rolling mechanics however for me it feels thematic. And there are many ways to mitigate bad results and sometimes choosing to fail is a better action than any other available to you.

   Great game, played it 4 times this week and plan a couple more still.

   Options options options! A feast for Odin provides plenty of strategies, incorporating much loved game mechanics. Worker placement, resource management, title laying, puzzle elements; they’re all here in this big ‘ole box! Great fun to punch and organise upon purchase. Fantastic fun to play, either with friends or solo.

   This game combines Uwe’s signature mechanics, such as polyomino tiles, plethora of action spaces, more than 12 type of resources, and huge debt at the start of the game amongst other things. It felt like a mixtape of greatest hits, all contained in one box

   This is an extremely fun game with many viable victory strategies and deep, absorbing gameplay. It is somewhat daunting for new players, but is well designed enough that people can figure it out fairly rapidly and become competitive by their second play through. There are a lot of options and rules, but the game prompts players pretty well and the rules are logical so that people can navigate themselves fairly rapidly. The cheat sheet available from boardgamegeek.com are recommended for new players.

   It’s designed by the person who made Agricola, and it shares a lot of that game’s competitive worker placement elements. The difference comes from The relative set of options that are available; in Agricola there are a few critical resources that everyone is always trying to get, and much of the gameplay involves positioning play order and blocking others from doing what they want to do. This game has a ton of different strategies that are intersecting but largely independent from each other, so the blocking aspect mostly comes up rarely and in situations where two players are trying to pursue the same strategy at the same time. In practice this really sets the game apart from other worker placement games, and the results are great!

   I did not receive the Zman Games version, but the version I received did come with expansion 2 in the box, along with a rulebook for the expansion.

   Overall a very good solo game, or a “solitaire with others” multiplayer experience. You will rarely not have options in a two-player game, but the board can get crowded at 3 and 4 players.

   It is a heavy (literally) euro, but there are a few random areas, such as the dice actions, weapons, and occupations.

    The game is everything I expected, A great heavy game with tones of possibilities. The box, however, arrived super damaged. Although I could return the game for a full reimbursement, It would’ve been a big waste of an almost perfect game. boardgamesweekly.com return policies are too inflexible.

    This game is absolutely amazing! I have only played it solo, but I already got my money’s worth. I now have 25+ solo plays, and I haven’t even had this game for a month. It is a satisfying puzzle, and the replayability seems endless, especially with The Norwegians (which I got last week). Easily one of my favorite board games of all time. Really. I just played it again tonight and I am already thinking about things I wanna try next time I play. Photos were from my first few plays, back when I could barely score past 80 points. These were also before getting the expansion.
