Overview

Expect it to take three sessions to complete.

This adventure module is absolutely what one should expect from such a thing. You get a high quality book and many player handouts and maps of equal quality. Everything fits nicely back into the box for easy storage. Note that this review is solely of the physical product. Whether the adventure is good is subjective, but I certainly approve.

Free Leagues hard back books are lovely quality. The quality of the module source books are not amazing though. The covers come off to easy from the story books, (problem at the binding process?) They look great though! There’s always some minor printing errors with item cards, (the back of the item card for an Incinerator has details for a tractor.) that being said it’s not stopped me buying Heart of Darkness. To summarise- – – I can’t fault their game content. Printing quality and pre-print editing needs to be improved. I’ve seen a few reviews from folk outraged its not hard back book. Do your research folks, it’s not a hard back. Don’t buy it thinking it’s a hard back. It’s a box set. You are better looking at the Free League website for in depth content information, and then buying from here. Hope that helps.

I already have the core rulebook, CMOM, and all the other adventures, and I’m very impressed with how the storytelling lays out, and how well it integrates with the other core books.
Will be running this in a couple weeks, prepping things for now.
My gaming group is really enjoying the FL rule system(s), and the Alien universe especially.
Andrew E.C. Gaska is active in the FB group for the game which is really cool when he weighs in on questions and comments by GMs and players.
Highly recommended.
(It says in the module you can run it with either the Core rulebook, or Starter Set rules, but it’s awfully handy to have the CMOM right there too, to flesh out things even more.)
