   Really nice set!! Love it!! Comes with everything you need. The instructions are great, they explain how to set it up and some pointers. Looks great, nice quality. Easy storage. It’s magnetic (weak) so the pieces don’t slide around, not too strong to where there bolted in place. All around a quality set for the price. (I included a picture of the box it came in because it is just too cute)

   My little brother loves this thing. The magnetic table is the attraction of this whole design for kids. My little brother loves to make dramatic moves with his board, and he’s even figured a way to take it to school to challenge his friends. So what do I think about it as a personal opinion? I believe the compartments are the selling point for me and the bags the pieces are kept are reusable unless you want to get a fence pouch to keep the details in. With that said, as long as the material is flexible like what comes in the package, you will find the proper storage to keep the pieces in the great drawers attached to the board. If your a serious chess player looking for something pick up and go type style then this is your board. If you like dramatic moves to show off to your opponet then this is your board.

   My kids love playing chess and often times their games have to be paused for one reason or another. Many of those times their game gets bumped by someone and the pieces get all messed up. There are usually tears when that happens and makes for a sad time! I got this chess set to hopefully find one that the pieces stay on well. While it does have magnets, they aren’t super strong. It will definitely hold them in place if the board is gently bumped, but they will all slide to one side of the board if it is tipped or kicked hard. It would be nice if the magnets were stronger so that they were held a little bit stronger to the board, but it works fine for what we were needing. The board measures 12.8” x 12.8” x 2.2” and seems like a good size to me. It is made of wood and I really like the look of it. There are two separate drawers on the sides to hold all of the pieces and keep the two different colored pieces separate which is nice.

   Being a relatively lost cost set with storage drawers, I have been pleasantly surprised by many quality features of this set, in spite of some reviews that say the lines on the board are not straight; the pieces are too light or too small; the magnets are too weak etc. I found none of that true. The magnets are just the right strength to keep the pieces in place. One request laments that at a 45 degree angle they begin to fall off the board! Well I don’t play chess with the board at a 45 degree angle. The size of the pieces match very well the size of the board. The box is not too light. It feels substantial. The squares are uniformly the same color for the beige and brown color, and easy on the eye. (I ordered the set with the reddish color squares and box but got the brown instead, but it’s OK-looks fine) I didn’t really want a wooden piece set at this low price because the knights usually look pretty lame compared to even cheap plastic knights which have more detail and really look like horses. But I am again pleasantly impressed with the look of these wooden knights. Not beautiful but not offense to the eye either. The box seems to be well made, although I don’t know of what kind of wood, but it does look like wood, not some cheap sawdust board. The drawers open and close easily and don’t slide open unexpectedly as some reviews have said about their sets. All in all I am enjoying playing with this set and it looks great on my coffee table.

   I got this on a like-new warehouse deal that was basically brand new, so I’m happy with the price I paid for it. If I paid more I’d be a bit less impressed and would have rather spent a little more for a 15″ set.

   Overall, the size is big enough to not be small and compact feeling, but not quite big enough to feel like a nice full set. The craftsmanship with the board and pieces is great though. The magnetism is perfect. Not too strong and not likely usable in a car or something, but strong enough you can move the board around the house or outside without anything falling off. The drawers are nice as well and make it a nice easy to store set. Overall it’s a nice space saving high quality set that would feel like a great deal if priced below $40.

   First off let me say this is a great chess set! I have no regrets purchasing it and won’t be returning it, but I thought I’d share about the quality…

   It looks better on screen and when it arrived the line work for the actual chess board are pretty sloppy, there isn’t a clean straight line anywhere on the board. Lastly the little tiny handles for the drawers are just super cheap quality, and in my instance one of the handles are completely smashed into the drawer (probably from shipping some how).

   Now back to the positives, the wood used is really nice and I love the magnet features for the cess pieces. It’s amazing to be able to store everything into the 2 draws when not in use.

   Excellent MAGNETIC Chess set in smaller size. This is not a standard tournament size set. The pieces are well made and the board with its drawers is of excellent construction. The pieces hold to the board with the perfect amount of magnetic attraction. While still being easy to pick up and move they are highly resistant to movement by even strong jolt or being turned upside down. My only two complaints are there is not a latch to hold drawers closed and it would have been excellent if a magnetic checkers set had been included. So my real rating is 4.5 The box the set comes in is perfect for gifting.Highly recommend this Magnetic Chess Set.

   It is a very nice and stylish board. I like the magnets for keeping a game together if we have to take a break and move the board. Makes set up a little harder because you have to pull apart each piece as you go but I think it’s worth the trade off.
