    This is no “expansion lite”, this effectively doubled (or more) the actionable options at every single turn. Sometimes you GET something simply because you didn’t EARN ANYTHING! Not gonna lie, that’s pretty much how I just won our first game with this expansion set. Took a while to just get through the directions so be patient because they’re important. When I saw each player gets their own FLIP CHART, I was a little intimidated but it was easy to master. Game play was longer than the basic version, took us probably 90+ minutes on our first go. Highly recommend this expansion pack!

    This was a good expansion to Catan. It did take us some time to figure out how to start and to set it up. We have played it several times and know there is more to learn. If you have played base Catan and are ready for the next challenge this is it.

    So regardless of the amount of fun one can have from this game, from a strictly financial standpoint, why is this game $50?! I’ve purchased every Catan expansion and most of them come with additions to the game boards, various new play pieces, etc. All other expansions generally go on sale quite frequently as well at very reasonable prices. This expansion was by far the most expensive, rarely if ever goes on sale, but contains the least amount of game pieces out of all the expansions. Not sure what the cost of production is, but for the amount of items that come in the box (which is what you’re paying for), you’d probably be better off printing the rules online and creating the game pieces yourself. And it wouldn’t even take you that long to make, two hours tops. For sure not worth the money for what comes in the box.

    This is my first expansion. When I ask friends which expansion should I get, everyone highly recommends this one. It adds so much fun to the basic version. I don’t think I can go back to playing the basic one after playing this expansion!
