   I bought this for my boyfriend who loves war games and is obsessed with there Napoleonic war era. I, on the other hand, have no experience with war games. I was pleasantly surprised and had a lot of fun playing. The instructions are clear, albeit complex sometimes but we learnt as we went along with it. I highly recommend this game

   Game is awesome and fairly easy to learn. It was a little easier since we play Memoir 44 and Battle Cry. The 4 stars is due to the box being destroyed and water damaged. Fortunately all the contents were in good shape. So the one star deduction is due to seller. Probably should have discounted the price as I don’t think the damage and water damage was a result of shipment.

   Having played Battle Cry, I wanted a fresh new take on tactics-based games, and Commands and Colors: Napoleonics delivers.

   Setting it up is a pain with adding the stickers to the blocks (kudos to my wife for helping me set them up), but they provide a fresh, unique aesthetic that is very appealing. The rules, while extensive, are pretty cut-and-dry and provide good information on the mechanics. The various units and their capabilities and limitations enhance the dynamic greatly and apply more realism to combat effectiveness. Playing out the cards and having the unit and terrain guides help tremendously with determining how many dice to roll to resolve combat.

   With great mechanics and extensive replay value (especially with the expansions, where you get the major powers of the coalitions, expanded rules for more-than-two-player games, and can play out over 100 battles), Commands and Colors: Napoleonics is a must for the wargammer.
