   We’d played this on a vacation one time, and I’d had my eye on it for some time. I couldn’t find it new anywhere, and the used editions are going for much more than retail. The game was listed as mint, but it was missing some of the game pieces. It doesn’t appear to affect the gameplay, but it was a surprise due to the listing. Nevertheless, good fun and quick family board game.

   Ok, the short version…. Buy this game for the components only. Excelent metal coins, glass gem beads, velvet bags and heavy metal pirate ships…

   Do not buy this game for the gameplay. If you are brand new to board gaming and enjoy roll and move style games like monopoly, sorry, etc, then you will probably enjoy this game and it may serve as a gateway game to heavier titles such as Black Fleet or Jamaica.

   If you are already in the hobby of Board Gaming, then this is merely a buy only for the components to be used in other games.

   This was a gift for our son as he turned 7- he loved it-and its perfect for our family of 4 to allow everyone to play. Though for older children-with help-even our 5 year old can play and be a part of. This game looked great-was in perfect condition, and is a quality product. My son loves pirates and this was perfect. Its a game that encourages planing and strategy-very fun, and will be a game that could be played into adulthood 🙂

   Has a little bit of a learning curve, but enjoyable once you get into it. However, you should get Valley of the Pharaohs. It has an even higher learning curve, but is more fun overall once you learn it (we have both).

   We played this with friends, only to hear that it is no longer in print. Really fun game that I finally tracked down for another game night with yet other friends. We all really enjoyed it!! Enough interest to stop and think, but not so hard that we couldn’t have conversation. Instructions are easy enough, but needs a few reviews for new players. I love the rule someone suggested that you have to wear some pirate paraphernalia to play, makes a fun time for all!
