   Très bonne histoire, bon scénario, mais j’ai reçu la moitié des figurines cassées!!! J’ai su en réparer certaines avec de la super glue, mais 4-5 ont du être jetées…

   The first in the series and still a great game. I was first introduced to the Adventure System board games through Temple of Elemental Evil, one of the “new trilogy” of these board games. While Castle Ravenloft is much simpler in design, it’s no less fun. The game design is excellent for those looking for a D&D “lite” dungeon crawler. Those looking for depth out of their gameplay should look elsewhere however, since these games do run by a very simplistic set of rules which govern player and enemy tactics. From a miniature standpoint alone these games are more than worth the money. No pieces missing, arrived in perfect condition despite being a 9+ year old game.

4. Rants & Reviews: Castle Ravenloft Board Game Verified Buyer – 5 April 2025

   I just got Castle of Ravenloft today. I wasted NO time digging into the box like a child on Xmas morning! I have never played a D&D board game until today; my experience with the franchise was always thru video games. That was a shame, since I grew up in the time when D&D first came home (shrugs)! Yeah, I know… there’s TWO games in my pix. I’ll get to that, in a minute. This board game is MUCH more fun than a video game, let me tell ya! Boy, was I ever missing out! I cut my table game teeth on Wrath of Ashardalon, which I picked up a couple of weeks ago. It took a little more prep to get into, but I LOVED every minute of it! I got hungry for more dungeon delving, so I scored Castle Ravenloft. Now, why is Ravenloft the best way to introduce one’s self to Dungeon and Dragons? Compared to Ashardalon, Castle Ravenloft is faster, more furious, and very intense. As a solo player, I found it easier to set up and start a game than with Ashardalon (because I played that one first?) maybe. But, had I bought Ravenloft home first, I’d still say that it’s much easier to get into… the adventures are simpler. The added sun token (for your sunrise to sunset timeline) gives more tension to the gameplay. Fifteen minutes in, I was already sweating bullets due to my wayward Cleric getting mobbed by the Vampire AND three other baddies as he stares at the exit that’s one tile away! I used both healing tokens (died twice) in one game, and bounced outta there by the skin of my teeth (with 2 HP remaining)!! Talk about hair-raising! I immediately reset everything and went for another round. This game is EXHILARATING! If you’ve never played D&D before, or if you’re looking to add a new game to your collection, you can’t go wrong with this treasure! Buy it, set it up, kill all distractions, play some righteous tunes, whip out the snacks, and enjoy the heck out of this game. You can dungeon crawl solo or with the four other friends. Oh, and there’s this; if you play solo, you can also control all of the heroes in a bigger adventure. It’ll just require more detail work! You can even mix and match between D&D board games! Make your OWN adventure! Playing this game made me dive deep into my imagination, unlike a video game which does the bulk of the fantasy work for you. This is like taking a D&D book, turning it into an imaginary sandbox in which anything is possible. Stop reading this and hit the buy button!
