   I was looking for a board game that didn’t require multiple players but was optional. This game has definitely met that need. I really love the artwork and story of this game, although it can be a bit difficult I actually don’t mind it. Also love the fact that it is so replayable. Awesome game with great character.

   For me, this game is pretty meh. Some of the dividers were broken inside upon arrival. And the “story” between levels is told by small comic books with very few words. When it came to the one between the second and third rounds, my husband and I had absolutely no idea what had happened. It also seems like lots of “choices” for things like items are WAY too important. Like if you pick item X over item Y you’re basically going to lose. I’d rather just get the one thing I need than have a choice that will potentially cripple my ability. After losing round three, I’m not sure when we’ll pick this one up again. It’s a rough game so if you like a challenge, this may be your game. But be warned when it says 1+ players it’s basically a one player game and you all have to agree or takes turns picking who gets veto power.

   I have recommended this boardgame to anyone and everyone who will listen. The mechanics of the gameplay are awesome. The illustrations are spectacular!

   Eila and Something Shiny is a game that starts off as a lighthearted adventure where you play a bunny named Eila, who lives in a forest. Eila ventures out from her home, initially guided by something shiny. The game is told through a series of comic panels with cutesy animals and other beings. Throughout the adventure, you are given choices of how to handle situations and where to go next, all the while building resources, items, and so on. As the game draws on, choices begin to have more weight to them while the game slowly takes a dark turn. Playing through, I loved being able to choose how I approached each scenario. The game is played out through six chapters and gets progressively more difficult. Thankfully, your items, support cards, etc. are carried over between chapters. Each chapter has its own set of event cards that create the experience. The game’s components are high quality with cards that have cutesy artwork and set the tone. The tokens are easy to differentiate with their own symbols and their own set of colored pieces which are made of wood. I’m a huge fan of how all of the components fit neatly into the included board game inserts. I would highly recommend this game since it’s a highly enjoyable adventure where your choices guide your experience and I found the shift from a lighthearted, carefree adventure to a darker journey where choices become part of your survival to be immersive!
