I use educational games as part of my homeschool plan. This game is working out great for teaching adding and subtracting of larger numbers. Graphics and quality of materials is good. Gameplay can be a little tedious in my opinion as you often have to work out 4 different math problems and choose the best one every turn. The self check feature is neat though. Regardless, my 6 year old son LOVES this game and wants to play it every day. I have to walk him through how to handle the larger numbers yet but he is very attentive and learning fast.

SimplyFun is a trusted brand of our family. The game in whole: prices, board games, box etc. are always quality and nice! In this fast paced, well organized game you want to feed the Narwals and are learning about arctic animals! You have two sides of the board to focus on, one starts at 0, while the other 100. You play cards that are either addition or subtraction (based on side) and the hope is to feed the Narwhals! As you play there is a way to self-check your answers to see if they are correct. This allows for learning. Even if you do get the answer wrong, you can better see and understand why! Which is one of my favorite things about this game that I’ve not seen in other board games. Plus, if you do get the answer wrong you still can play, but get a bonus for getting the answer correct. My kids really like this and I love games that focus on learning math skills as I struggled through math as a child. Due to this, I wanted to make sure all of my children had strong math bases. I played games like this with my teens when they were school age. Both are strong in math. One is the first kid in the district (to date) to ever take an advanced math class as young as he is!! So I know these things do help and make a difference.

Perfect for 2nd grade and up! Played with my 10 year old and she absolutely loved it! Just enough of a challenge to be fun but not stressful.

This game definitely is primarily educational, but it makes it fun! The premise is that you want to feed narwhals on their migratory journey, one starting at 0 and journeying along the river to 100, the other starting at 100 and journeying the other way. You play combinations of cards and must solve addition or subtraction problems to have a chance at feeding the narwhals. There’s a neat self-check mechanism with the cards to see if you got the math right. It’s very forgiving of making mistakes; there is a bonus for getting the answer right but you still get some play even if you get the answer wrong. The cards have cute cartoon animals and vehicles on them, and all the animals are real Arctic creatures. The game even includes a little fact book about each animal, which my girls really loved. My kids (10 and 7) are pretty math reluctant with school but really enjoy playing this game, so that’s a bonus. My one complaint is that after only one play, which involved zero roughness, when we got out the game the second time the thick cardboard game board was already coming apart at the edges (it joins together like a puzzle and it was the knob of one puzzle end coming apart). I wish it was sturdier, a game really shouldn’t be coming apart like that almost immediately. Still recommended as a great way to make math fun!
