Counter Attack is a football (soccer) strategy game which lasts for 90 minutes. The two players (‘managers’) each control a team of 11 players. Every player has a unique set of skills that the managers try to best utilise during play. Managers control how the players move, pass, dribble, tackle and shoot.
Duels between players on the pitch – whether tackles, shots or headers – are determined by a combination of the unique player skills plus a dice roll. During movement phases, a sand timer is used to keep the pace of the game up.
Counter Attack features everything you’d expect in a game of football, from corners to free kicks, penalties to red cards and injuries.

My football mad son really enjoys this game! He likes the tactical play. It doesn’t take too long to learn if you know how to play football. It’s flexible in time as game length can be easily altered.

you draft your team at the beginning of the game making each game feel unique. This also adds to the strategic depth as each game you have to make a formation and plan of attack and defense based on the players you have for that game. What worked last game might not work the next. Games can go a bit long, but once the players know the rules and how the movement phase works it starts to pick up pace. Great game for any soccer or strategy type fan.

This is a well thought out strategy soccer game that can be played at a surface level or with deeper complexity. Definitely the best game I’ve played in a few years and my school age son is also a huge fan
