   The Isle of Dread reincarnated is the perfect mix of old school nostalgia and a 5E conversion update. You get original versions of the module reprinted, plus an additional 5E update with tons of added content. Better yet, the 5E content is perfectly timed because all of it is entirely relevant to WOTC modules like Tomb of Annihilation (lots of jungle-related monsters and hazards) and Ghosts of Saltmarsh (plenty of seafaring hijinks).

   I regret purchasing this version of the Isle of Dread. One would think after putting together two versions of the earlier module with their different, but functional layouts, Goodman Games would clue in that maybe, just maybe, they should make a modern version just as good. Show off a little. Use a modern layout program. But they don’t. The 5E version of the book appears to be from Microsoft Word for the Macintosh. It is so non-functional and bloated that I almost returned the book to boardgamesweekly.com. However, I decided to keep it to use as an example of how not to do an RPG book layout. Beyond that, the 5E version of the beastiary is pretty dang handy. It’s an excellent 5E module, but some of the encounters drop their old school feel (for example, turning the ancient green dragon to a young gree dragon). 3 out of 5.    If you liked the original, you’ll love this. Written using old school rules so it is easy to change up for my game. Newer games like 5th Ed D&D are almost impossible to convert to other systems unless you’re willing to spend a ton of time doing it.

   Contents are amazing, you get exactly what the cover says and it’s great. As Long as your cover stays on. My copy sat on a shelf for most of the 2 years that I’ve owned it while I waited to put a group together to run it for. Finally got a group together, opened the book for the first time in a ling time and the seem between the binding and the cover disintegrated in my fingers. It’s holding on by a prayer now, but I doubt it survives a weekend of play. Which is a bummer because the cover art would have been cool to display when it’s not being used. Find a PDF and spare yourself the loss. – Goodman Games reached out to me offering to replace my ripped copy. So I’m retroactively bumping this review to 5 stars. Excellent customer service, happy to see that level of commitment from a publisher. Happily clicking my way to buy some Mutant Crawl Classics after that class act.

   I love this entire series from Goodman Games. Their first one was brilliant and made me look forward to this one, which did not disappoint! This contains both versions of the original modules, as well as an expanded conversion to Dungeons & Dragons 5e. In addition, there are essays and interviews from designers, new monsters, and more than enough to round out this brilliant volume. A worthwhile addition to any GM’s bookshelf and a great walk down memory lane!

   This is a great book, though I would like to have seen only one version of the original booklet. The added material and fleshing out of the Isle for the 5e version is nicely done and adds depth. The artwork is great and consistent. Good for us old gamers, and draws lines to the newest edition of the game. I do not regret this purchase.

   An absolutely amazing book with that is far more than a reproduction of the original. This is a loveletter to the original module, painstakingly crafted to remove any ambiguity and to make it an excellent adventure for any table.
