   Descent, weighted set for about $38. I liked that they are true to picture and are the cheapest set I found that are wood with good base size … oh …. and weighted – that is a must for a great set. If you find a cheaper set that would be better, but I have not.

   This set is sized and weighted perfectly to warrant a place on my chess table that I built over 40 years ago. It has 2″ squares, (16″ playing surface). Until now I have been reluctant to display pieces on it. Significantly, the set shipped with a mis-constructed pawn, which the seller apologized for and responded immediately.

   I bought a very nice chess board, then I ordered the pieces to use on it. Then I ordered a very good chess book to reminder me since it has been many years since I played. All was very nice -until – there were only 7 white pawns? Kind of puts the person playing white to a disadvantage? I liked the pieces, they were very nice – but I sort of expected a complete set. Oh, Well, life goes on and I will order some pieces from somewhere other than Gugertree Wood Weighted Chess Pieces.

   I purchased these and a separate chessboard – both of excellent quality for the money. I saved a bundle over buying an equivalent level chess board and piece set. Though not a perfect match they go well together and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. here pieces are well made for the price level.
