   Don’t get me wrong, the product itself was GORGEOUS, no flaws in board or pieces. And the case itself was beautiful. For that I was conflicted to review low. But…. As you can see in my pictures, the encasement the pieces go into, for any other piece except pawns were too big and left room to slide around and get chipped or knicked. Even the setting the pieces go into to go into the case is much much smaller than the case meaning once packed, you can’t lift up by the handle or everything almost falls out/ jostles around inside. So you constantly have to carry laying flat (and it’s HEAVY). Plus they weren’t careful with the glue as you can see in the picture, it’s all over areas of the encasement. Looks a bit gawdy… Again , without the case , the board and pieces alone was worth the discounted price yes, but….I did get to be stored as needed, so I was disappointed that now I have to jimmy rig its secure ability somehow.

   I was pleasantly surprised just by the weight of the box when this arrived. I wasn’t expecting both the board and the pieces to be such heavy pieces of marble, but they are and it’s a true show-piece and pleasure to play with. The added carry box and the sponge feet for the pieces are a nice touch to keep it protected. One downside is, the inlay to hold the pieces in the carry box are too small for the pieces.

   This chess set is great quality marble. The pieces came in great condition and gives you the option to add felt to the bottom. The case it comes in is great and has organized sports for each piece.

    This chess set was purchased as a gift. One of the case clasps arrived broken-Radicaln quickly remedied and replaced the case. It is a very nice chess set and the gift receiver loved it!

    The peices are beautiful and so it the board! But they don’t fit each other at all. The board is way to small so it looks silly. It was supposed to be something pretty enough that we could leave it out all the time but instead it sits in it’s nice case in the cupboard. I purchased it for the husband on Father’s day and he’s only used it twice out of obligation. I would not recommend it as a gift.
