I am a psychotherapist and work with kids dealing with variety of mental health issues. This is one of the best games I have used! It teaches children about making good choices and stop-think-choose process.Instead of receiving instant gratification kids actually develop appropriate rewarding system. Highly recommended.
Sherry A. Lewis Verified Buyer –
Over priced, not so fun, difficult keeping the attention of the kids it’s aimed at. Debated on returning the game, but didn’t. The questions are helpful. I would suggest more action and a little less talking to make it more fun. I use it in therapy with kids.
Update 7/24/13 – I gave it one more star, moving it from 3 to 4 because I used it with a group of 7 boys and they seemed to like the game and wanted to continue playing it, which surprised me. It was a structured group on Friendship, so they didn’t have a lot of other options, but they were into the game. It really helped them be able to identify their own impulsive behaviors and how it might interfere with friendships.

This game is great for clients who may struggle with impulsivity, anger, social skills and problem solving. I am very pleased with the impulse control game.

This has been a great tool to have as a school-based counselor. Some of the statements that the students are asked to say in the game are corny. Make sure the child is able to read pretty complex statements.

this game is a great activity for your clients to think about impulses and what they can do to control them.
Erin Moser Verified Buyer –
Great game but the cardboard game pieces do not fit into the stands and the game board ripped after only two weeks of use.

I’ve been using it with my students as a counselor. It’s not as good as I had hoped it would be.

My kiddos have really enjoyed this game. I see some of the other reviews express differently. The game is really just the tool to allow you to engage the client regarding the behavior. If you are a skilled therapist I feel you can make even the worst game beneficial. My clients and I have elaborated a lot with this game. The game pieces are cheesy and cheap, considering the expensive cost of the game. Overall, this has been useful and I will continue to use it in the field with clients.
