Love the game, like the raised slots. Disappointed with it not having a cover on compartment for the counters .

Othello is a modern version of a very old (hundreds of years old) game called Nine Men’s Morris (in the UK) or Muhle (in Germany). The rules are extremely simple, but the game never becomes boring because it is constantly changing. My parents used to play it every single night for decades; now that one of my parents is deceased, I play with the other. It’s challenging yet fun; it can be played by an 8-year-old or by an 88-year-old (my parent) or anyone in between. It is a 2-person game, like checkers or chess, and does require concentration. This is not a game you can play while listening to music, watching tv, chatting with friends or talking on the phone. There are a few types of game boards available, but the best has raised edges to each square which helps prevent the pieces from sliding around. The only thing I don’t like about it is the lack of a cover for the grooves that hold the pieces when storing the game. I highly recommend this game of strategy. I haven’t tired of it in years and don’t expect ever to outgrow it!

An oldie but a goodie! I always loved Othello and have a version from the 80’s. I was psyched when my 11 year old niece asked for it for her birthday. It was hard to find it at the toy store but easy on boardgamesweekly.com. The Othello board now has little indented box areas to put your discs so they can’t slide onto another box. This is a nice addition. What I didn’t like was they took away the little clear covers that covered your discs when you wanted to put the game away, now the discs could fal all over inside the box. Othello is still a great game and this version is good.

Liked the board and side trays for the pieces. I taught my grandson to play, so now he has a choice of Chess or Othello!

Our games of Othello move so much more quickly and easily when the pieces stay aligned and in place on this board. As for the game, don’t be fooled by the easy rules. This game is fun and rewarding when learning how to play each game better than the last.

Hours of good clean game play

As it states on nearly every box of this game. Simple to understand and play, but a lifetime to master. everytime you start new permutations come into play. A game on a par with chess and draughts for definite.

I almost did not get the game because of the two stars review that says the game is of poor quality. But then I decided to give it a try. This is a hit in our house and I have not noticed any problems with quality so far. You can neatly store the pieces right on the game board. It’s true that the rules are so simple that you learn it in five minutes, but it does take a lifetime to master. A great strategy game!

This is my favorite game. The rules are easy enough so that you can learn in 5 minutes. However, the game changes as your skill level changes.
If you are young, this is an excellent mind-expanding game, plus a lot of fun.
If you aren’t very good at games, this can be a good social game that is quick to learn. Just make sure you play someone at your skill level.
If you love strategy games, this game is for you. If you haven’t played it since you were a kid, you probably haven’t appreciated the intense strategic elements in this game. I think this game coined the phrase “A minute to learn, a lifetime to master.” It is a lot of fun going through the mastery process.
The quality is not as good as I remember it as a kid, but the board will hold together even though the green felt will wear quickly.
And, as a trivia note, Othello is the brand name of the generic game of Reversi. Reversi is available for free at many online gaming sites.

We love this game. Glad that they changed the board, so the chips stay in place.

I always loved Othello as a kid and rediscovered it recently and am so happy I did. Its such a fun game and great to play on Shabbat with family and friends.
Its a hard game to find in stores, so I decided to get it from boardgamesweekly.com when I picked this up. It was $19 so it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I couldn’t find it in stores so I didn’t have any other option. Its not as good quality as the materials were 20+ years ago but no games are. Its still just as fun no matter what the quality
Great game, try it out, you’ll love it.
