   We’re starting to explore RPG’s in my house and my kid (8) loves playing D&D with my wife and me, though I’ve been extremely lightweight about the rules to the point that we’re not really rolling dice. My wife and my kid rolled some characters for Tails of Equestria, which my kid loved, and I DM’d both the adventure that’s built into the book and one I made up on the fly.

   So far, fights haven’t really figured into the way we’ve been playing but I appreciate that there are difficulty checks and dice rolls for things. For me as DM, it’s more fun because I’m sometimes surprised by how situations resolve. Unlike D&D combats, though, it’s not multiple rounds and figuring out modifiers. Also, playing for an hour at a time is totally viable.

   My 6 yr old daughter is really enjoying Tails of Equestria. This is the first RPG that she has played and she is really embracing it; she can’t get enough. She didn’t really enjoy the other product, the starter kit, that much but she really liked the Pet Predicament in this book. She spent a lot of time with me going through the talents and quirks. I really recommend Tails of Equestria if your child likes My Little Pony and RPG’s!

   Our children LOVE My Little Pony. The issue is, we can only play with their board games and figure toys for so long. This is a role playing game, very similar to D&D, except you are playing with My Little Pony games in their world. This is a HUGE hit and is very fun for the family to play!

   I can’t believe how well designed the game mechanics are. There are aspects of it that I will use in other RPGs to solve some game mechanic problems inherent in those systems. It does a very good job of being something that little kids can grab ahold of and enjoy as well as giving you a system to make a game Worthy of adults when the kids go to bed

    The system is simple to pick up and understand, character generation can be done in under 5 minutes if people have a clue what they want to play as. There is enough open-endedness in the rules to allow players to create rich and varied characters.

    The tokens of friendship system encourages working together to achieve difficult goals, something many other games fail to encourage significantly enough.

    And finally, the book is absolutely gorgeous, being about 50% pictures and fully coloured. Certainly worth picking up, whether you’re looking for a new RPG to try, aiming to get your children into Roleplaying, or invested in the background already.

    What a funny way to get your kids into RPG/Storytelling games. It’s super cute and my girls really enjoy the art and the idea. I hope other companies come out with kid themed games while my children are young. As far a RPG the game does what it is supposed to do. Provides basic rules and objectives to get the story going.
