   This was a gift and he’s very happy with it. My only complaint is that I wish the pieces had a bit more detail to them. We’ve had no issue with any breakage of the pieces as others have had. It arrived quickly and everything was in good shape.

   For the price i paid, I was ripped-off. The pieces are very very very poorly done, it’s really ugly and some are very uneven! The pictures here are very deceiving because it did’t look like it at all. The board is not as bad though there are some scratches on the sides. I still don’t recommend this product.

   This item is much higher quality than I expected, but the backing was put on a bit sloppy. The chess pieces are all hand carved, and the board is solid stone. Just sitting on a table waiting for players, this set is like a sculpture. Each piece is slightly iorregular, but in a beautifully artisan way. The board is HEAVY so I would suggest putting it on a surface or table you wont have to move it from. The colors are rich and natural. I am very happy with this purchase!

   NOTE: Shipping takes a while longer than normal, because these have to be made to order. Still, it was well worth the wait.

   While I bought this for myself, I would certainly have no doubt giving this gift to my friends who are avid chess players (and professional engineers with high standards for what is and is not quality material)!

   Worth your money. NOTE: the pieces are not perfect, a few of the white marble pieces seem to have irregular coloring or even small- to medium-sized cracks. However, this is just part of the the look of the natural stone. The imperfections, I think, make the pieces look even more handmade and artisan-made, instead of that mass produced factory look.

   I ended up receiving my Onyx and Marble chess set with a chip in one of the pieces due to shipping. I called up Novica and their customer service was fantastic. I talked to a service rep quickly, who gave me instructions on how to return the item. I was able to get a full refund – no questions asked, even though it shipped from Mexico! Additionally, when I was returning the item, I also mixed up another boardgamesweekly.com return that got sent to Novica. What would normally be a disastrous situation to resolve couldn’t have been easier when they offered to personally reship the item to boardgamesweekly.com so that I could get a return on that one too. Best customer service experience I have had in a while.
