We got this game in 2001, and it became our FAVORITE GAME EVER! When my wife brought it home from a business trip to England (during which she visited the Tower of London), I have to confess that my first thought was it would turn out to be nothing more than a generic, nothing-special souvenir that we would play once and then put on a shelf. I was completely wrong! This game is interesting and fun, and also is great at making players feel as if they are in a “story” (like Clue) as they run around the board stealing from the Tower (and each other). Love it!
Today, we tried a great variation that makes it take MUCH, MUCH longer than a regular game. (Hey, if you love the game, why not stretch things out?) The new rule: No one can go into the White Tower until ALL of the Tower Cards have been picked, meaning there are zero Tower Cards left in the pile. The only exception would be if a player gets sent into the White Tower by a Raven card (such as “Go and View the Sword”). That means players end up having huge stacks of Tower cards by the time anybody get the chance to steal any of the jewels. Try it! It makes the game take FOREVER!

I first encountered this game while visiting the Tower of London. I slogged two sets home. My family enjoyed playing it for a few years. I bought additional sets as gifts. Lately it’s been put away; maybe I can get a game going again.
