   I haven’t opened the game yet because it’s a gift, but the box looks used. The corners of the box are tapes with scotch tape. The “seal” right next to the handle looks like it has been removed and then taped back with scotch. It doesn’t have that crisp new feel to it. I’m a little disappointed because this is a gift.

   I was never a Risk fan, but this game changed that for me. The stakes feel high and the game compels on a turn by turn level, game strategy level, and even on a game to game level. Alliances form, grudges form, players with earned advantages get ganged up on. The path to victory is never simple and usually different every game. Always a treat.

   Used to play Risk as a teenager. This version really is the best, and although my group was hesitant to mark up the board and tear up cards (we just fold them and keep them actually), it soon became infectious. The urge to mark a country or continent as your own keeps us coming back, and the rule reveals are very exciting. I hope the Legacy style games continue.

   Risk: Legacy is the newest risk game that I’ve tried. At 50$, the price, while it seems steep, is well worth the money. No two games will be the same, and it’s an absolute thrill to play. The only downside is now all my friends pester me to play their Risk legacy board game to see how it will turn out.

   Also, I haven’t opened the package hidden inside that reads “Never open”… makes me nervous how it will affect the game.

   Great game, love playing it (and naming cities and continents), and how it changes.

   The only thing we’ve noticed that if a person wins twice it can really lead to a unstoppable powerhead if they’ve taken Australia, put an extra troop advantage and placed a major city there. If your friends win on that continent either don’t let them take Australia again or make sure they don’t win twice (and you put a major city there so they can’t take it next game.

   Absolutely brilliant game that revolutionises the game of risk, this game brings intrigue, surprise and new challenges to the game of risk with many hours of fun in completely different ways that the more normal version bring. Prepare for the unexpected as you see all these tempting boxes that you want to open to see what the reveal.

   A game and thereafter for every game after can change dramatically in a turn by someone completing a specific requirement, you will never want to go back to normal risk again and with victory and survival comes rewards that give your game it’s own personalisation and humour.

   No one game of risk legacy is the same as any other that someone else purchases.

   Beware the ‘Do not open, Ever’ box hidden under the plastic.

   I’ve played this game before and it is one of the most fun board games that I’ve ever played. The game itself is 5/5 stars to me; but, my board had a critical error. Without giving spoilers, the contents in the “open when a player is going to place 30+ troops on the board” and the “open when 3 missile are played on a single combat roll” secret boxes were flip-flopped. I have pictures for proof but posting them would spoil the contents for future players. Also, the contents were taped and sealed in a way that prevented me from removing the adhesive without ripping the contents. I was not affected by this error, but it was definitely disappointing because it spoiled the surprise for the rest of the players that had never played the game before. Again, fantastic board game but this box (maybe others) was boxed improperly.

    What a fun, different take on a classic game. I have not made it through that many games yet but from what I have played it is great. Most the other reviews and description takes you through what a game might look like for you. The only thing I suggest to people buying this game is choose your playmates carefully. This is a game that is best played with the same people again and again. Not to say you cant have new people jump in, it just doesn’t work as well. I personally enjoy the stories and laughter that came from marking the board up and specifically choosing new city names. Its better than regular Risk and does play a bit faster, but it still can come down to the luck of the dice. If you have friends that enjoy a good strategy game and you want to make it truly unique to your group, get this game!
