It is a fantastic product and I love the look and craftsmanship of the pieces and glass board. The only dislike is the pieces should be a bit heavier so they are not as likely to fall over. Also it will take a few times of playing to match the pieces in your mind. It’s confusing at first.

Just received this set and played a couple of quick test games. First impressions are quite positive, relative to the price. The quality seems to match my expectations, again considering how much I paid. It looks great on the table. Certainly a conversation piece. I like the theme and playing Romans vs Egyptians is quite fun. I had no problem telling who is who, nor did my kids. Would be cool to have other sets with different opposite teams, like knights vs dragons for example. Some taller pieces are easy to knock down accidentally, so playing requires some care. Don’t know yet how fragile the pieces are. May update my rating later. Overall I would recommend it for this price. Just don’t expect $400 craftsmanship, but it is a very good low cost alternative nevertheless.

I purchased this for use in a school library and was happy with the look of it. Unfortunately, however all the pieces fell apart from day one of use. The kids weren’t being rough with it and I expected better for the price.

Now this is a very unique chess set. All the pieces are finely crafted with every detail corresponding to the culture they represent. Also the glass checkerboard is nice enough and just the right size for the size of the pieces. This same chess set Is available with the pieces already painted in detailed colors, but I think the contrast of gold and silver gave it a more classier look. Perfect for not just actual playing but as a nice display.

I deeply appreciate that the white and colored sets consist of different pieces. This makes the colored set more interesting and mollifies a player’s potential disappointment at having to use the colored set.
The pieces are very light and are made of a simple plastic material. The paint job is not horrible, but the entire product is really only worth about half of what is being charged. The producers want to make their profit, I guess.
Sizing is standard.

If it were only to look at, it would be great. However, we have played exactly two games and one of the bishops tipped over and broke in half. The Roman knights are top heavy and fall over constantly. Not thrilled, especially for the price 🙁

Came in a well wrapped Styrofoam package in a box. The pieces are well designed and the board is gorgeous. I bought this as a gift to my fiance and I’m sure she will love it as much as I do! Not good for traveling as the package is large and Styrofoam falls apart easy. But that’s an extremely minor detail. Well done.
