This game is a great idea. The cubes, their interaction, the options, are all very engaging. However, they are chew batteries like candy, requiring 5 (2032) batteries at $3.59 a pop, and the programming is weird: doesn’t accept some valid words, does put up some goofy words one has never heard of, and disallows some valid alternatives. Game 1 doesn’t allow you to see the other options when you are finished, which would be a good learning tool. Game 3 ends much too quickly, perhaps 5 seconds or less, not even allowing enough time to manipulate the cubes into place once you’ve identified the correct combination. If you don’t recognize it immediately, you will not have time to set it into place. It needs tweaking and reprogramming to be ultimately satisfying.

I purchased 3 of these games for Christmas…two for separate grandchildren to share, ages 8 to 11. The other one for my husband and myself to play with the grand kids when they come to visit. I thought it would be a good “family” game. I’m very disappointed. Being an avid scrabble player for many years, I thought that this would be a great way to engage the kids. I’ve played the games multiple times “alone” and would say that this is much too challenging for young kids. Putting together words as fast as I can, I am often stumped as to how one can often get only 50% of the words available within the time constraints. Did I mention that I have a Ph.D.? This would be much too frustrating for young kids! I’ve also found that my set does not always score a correct word. That is frustrating for me (i.e., “creed” ?, not recognized??). On a positive note, it is a very compact game that could easily be put in a suitcase for travel. Overall, I’m not enthused and disheartened.

I purchased this for my 8 year old son for Christmas after he asked Santa for it. I have to say, this is a great game! It is perfect for him being an only child because it can be played alone. This game kept him busy while visiting family while the adults talked. It is also very portable (just a small box) and can be taken in the car (as long as you have a sturdy surface to play on, such as a lap desk)….he used it while on the trip to visit family. It is very easy to use right out of the box, which we love for an impatient young boy. The game will tell you your score and how many words were possible with the letters given. This makes the game very addicting as you try to get ALL the words, which I must say is challenging. I am a teacher and pride myself in my spelling abilities, but even I cannot get them all every time. The challenge is nice as it is not too easy, which can create boredom. The difficulty level is perfect for children (8-10 and up) and adults. Sometimes we all work together trying to think of words. I rated it high on educational value because it is a spelling game. The instructions encourage you to just place any tiles together because it may create a word that you are not familiar with – this teaches new words (my son stated “I didn’t even know that was a word!” and you can encourage looking up the meaning for further learning). Overall, this is a great game for both kids and adults.

Love this toy … Here are the great features.
1. Usability : Its both educational and fun..
2. Age No Bar : I am 25 and i enjoyed it with friends and my Nephew plays with it everyday
3. Easy scoring : Scores are displayed very easily at the end
4. Easy to store.: Takes no space and comes with a neat box to store easily
Only problem is the battery change. In case you run out.. you will need a small screwdriver specific batteries that fit.

Pro: fantastic product idea. Fun with spelling. Eassy to bring out.
Con: manufactured long time ago, so you need to buy new batteries and open cubes with a small screwdriver. But worth it.

This is a fun and challenging game that can be played alone, with friends, and/or in teams. It is simple to learn, easy to play for almost all ages and is fast to play. I first saw this game played in an elementary ESL classroom where students used the cubes in make words in English. I first played at a party where all, including myself, are retired school teachers and administrators. WE LOVED IT! I like the fact that the cubes “keep score” and the little carrying box is awesome and makes for ease of carry and play any where.
