   This is a gorgeous and sturdy wooden organizer for the board game Betrayal at House on the Hill. I am giving it 4 stars due to an error in the instructions and to the fact that the tokens tend to fall out of the small holders as the open spaces that let you reach in to pull them out are not quite narrow enough to contain them. TOOLS YOU WILL REALLY NEED You’ll definitely want to use wood glue on these. But as the edges you will be gluing are small, a paintbrush with a fairly narrow tip will prove really useful. Have a cup of water standing by to put the brush in in-between pieces. It helps to have a paper palette of some type to put a glop of glue on. You can use it several times before it gets too dry and you need to use a separate glop. It may be helpful to have a second brush standing by to wipe off excess glue. If you have long nails, you can also just use a paper towel, which it helps to have nearby in any case to wipe glue off your paintbrush (or q-tips). You don’t really need a mallet. If you have one, great, if not, you can apply pressure with your hands, as needed. The kit comes with sandpaper and rubber bands. The instructions say to use a utility knife on the smaller pieces, but except for some of the tighter ones on the last sheet, I didn’t find I needed one (and, in fact, the knife just chipped off the outside of the wood). Instead, just keep rotating the pieces back and forth and the small bits that attach the pieces to the wood sheet will give. MISTAKE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS In the instructions for assembling Token Tray #1, steps 4 and 5 are listed backwards. Trying to glue the little end pieces before the larger pieces that go at the ends will result in a great deal of frustration. Otherwise, the instructions are pretty clear. Make sure you assemble each of the pieces in order so that you don’t (ahem) accidentally switch the triangle and square token tray end pieces. (Fortunately, they are exactly the same size so if you do what I did, it’s not that big a deal. The pieces just won’t match the box lid, but the symbols aren’t that meaningful, anywy. They just help you remember which tokens are supposed to go in which tray). FINAL THOUGHTS It’s a little weird that an organizer is just coming out now for a game that is almost a decade old but it’s a classic for a reason. This organizer is a very nice piece of engineering that is quite beautiful and relatively easy to assemble.

   This was not easy to put together and I was disappointed to find there was a misprint on the dice tower. One of the biggest reasons I purchased this set is for the artwork on the dicetowet. Unfortunately I waited too long to put it together and discovered it after the return window to get a replacement. You also need your own tools and glue to build this and the instructions could be a but more descriptive. Not the worst instructions I have used but not th best. It shouldn’t affect the functionality of it and I still look forward to playing with it.

   I was super excited to find an organization kit for the betrayal box, and even better that these had a cool theme and appearance to them. You’ll definitely need to invest a little time to put this together – I used wood glue and toothpicks to secure some of the pieces together. Some of the inserts take a bit of force to fit into their corresponding slots, but I think that’s just naturally how wood piece-together crafts go sometimes. Unfortunately, two of the pieces were wrong and not mirrored like they were supposed to be (instead they were just identical pieces). But I’ve never experienced better customer service. They were great with responding to messages and immediately sent me replacement pieces that they had available. When there was an issue with another piece, they were very accommodating and willing to refund me for my troubles. I am overall pleased with the final product and how it housed all of the game pieces. Note that it has enough space to house the pieces of the expansion pack too. It all fits so snugly into the box. Would definitely recommend if you’re into organization for your game nights.

   Ok lets address the elephant in the room. This is an expensive insert for the game (effectively costing the same as the game itself). But my god is it worth it! the insert itself is a beautifully crafted piece of kit with engraved designs on everything from the card holder to the dice tower. it takes a game that had a lot of random tokens and organises it in a way which I find more efficient for gameplay. the dice tower looks like a haunted house as well and just adds to the flair of the game. I was a little hesitant to buy it at first as I had read reviews saying it didn’t fit the 2nd edition copy of the game. well I have the 2nd edition and it fits perfectly. I had read on another review that there were some copies that had a different box size – so my advice is check your box before you order, as long as its 10.5″x10.5″ you are fine. this is the second SMONEX insert I have bought (the first being Scythe) and I love their designs! if you love upgrading your board games and you love Betrayal then this is a must have!

   The quality of the wood and laser detail is great! However, the seller offers no compatibility warning for 3rd edition. This set is incompatible with 3rd edition. The character stands are too short, even if you take off the colored risers that come on the bottom of the character. Other small compatibility issues, as well.

   This product is fantastic. I was a bit apprehensive originally due to the price but once it arrived and we sat to build it I can see exactly where the money went. The instructions are easy to read. The design is flawless and exactly fits the feel of the game. Also the pieces fit inside the box (with a little Tetris knowledge you can do it too)
   Only thing I’d change is maybe put in the instructions on how it fits into the box as we spent more time trying to fit it all in than we did building it! But it was still FUN. Highly recommend this product

   This is good for 3rd edition as well. Although you have to sacrifice two of the containers. Definitely can fit the 3rd edition.
