   The board comes in 4 plastic sections that fit together to make up the base for the game. It wasn’t easy for a child to snap apart the 4 piece board for storage…..breaking one of the connection tabs on the first day playing with it….very cool otherwise. The board still stays together with one broken connecter tab…..kids lost interest fast as the bunny loses its wind up energy quickly…..they need to master holding the buttons on the side of the rabbit to prevent it from running out of energy ….getting to the correct start position before this happened was frustrating.

   Great price. I love how you must build the base of the maze and then you can customize the route for the squirrel to go.
   My almost 5yo had some issue figuring out how to old the breaks on the squirrel but he got the hang of it quickly.

   My students love this. We use it as a preferred break activity for students who like mazes. It builds so much investment! Putting together the green base is a bit tricky for my students ( 3rd grade) so I have to help. One of the pegs to snap the base together snapped when a student was trying to put it together himself. So now I have the rule of putting the base together. However, this is such a cute way to see students use their problem solving. The solutions are a bit confusing sometimes but we keep it light and fun.

   Squirrel build a track nut delivery game is fun. We have tried this out in Pre-K for the past two weeks. This game is engaging and has been played with quite a bit now. The concept here is that a student will move through the challenge book and build progressively harder trails for the squirrel from the starting spot to the nest and deliver an acorn there. This game is surely more suited/ideal for 5-6 year old children in my honest opinion. Though my 4 year old students love the pull back squirrels and the challenge of pressing both the “brake” buttons on the squirrel’s hips to save his energy. The physical coordination to be able to use this item independently for a 4 year old just isn’t there. Here are the challenges present: The game board itself is not easy to put together/take apart. There are plastic loops over rods that hold the 4 pieces together and it holds together kinda like the concept of the top of a cardboard box where you have one flap over, and the other corner under, thus all 4 flaps hold each other shut. The game board is not possible for my students to assemble without a teacher present. I watch them attempt to take it apart at clean up time and a teacher is needed for that as well to keep it from breaking. The challenge book is difficult to navigate for a 4 year old as well. Most challenge books for this age level start at level 1 and have a page for each level to flip through so students can navigate it independently with the solution on the next page to check for accuracy. This book has many challenges on every page of all different levels. Not something they can manage without help. Additional challenges include pulling the squirrel back just the right amount. Once students figured out how to pull the squirrel back on the table top and apply his “hip brakes”, they must then get the squirrel precisely on the starting spot/groove at the beginning of the trail. While holding the “hip brakes” there, students have to load a teeny tiny nut into his basket before getting their arm out of the way and releasing the squirrel. Also, for short trails, if the squirrel was pulled back a good length, he reaches the nest with so much force/speed that he launches the nut over the nest and off the table, sending the student scrambling across the classroom to retrieve it. Lastly, the nest/finish line piece is virtually impossible to pick up/remove in any of the inside spaces that a child might place it. It is quite hard to take the nest out of the edge spaces where the plastic board drops down to make pieces easier to retrieve. In the 4 inside squares, the plastic lines up at the same level and the nest can not be picked up. I have been contemplating setting the nest piece down with a long piece of dental floss or string under it so I, myself, can get it out. With a teacher’s help every step of the way, a 4 year old does get some satisfaction and joy from this toy. It is much more suited for a 6 year old and they still won’t be able to get the nest out easily, if at all. Fun concept but could use design improving for sure if it is intended for audiences less than 5-6 years old.

   I bought this for my granddaughter turning three soon, but she was not ready for it but it was VERY fun for my extremely bright 5 yr old grandson. It is not difficult to figure out and the challenge of making his own paths for the cute little squirrel to deposit a nut in the basket was just right. Terrific game.

   My 7 year old has fun with this. It’s a lot of pieces to get out and put together (which he has no trouble doing on his own) so it doesn’t get played with everyday because he doesn’t like cleaning it up. It’s just a little cumbersome.

   It’s fun and works how it’s supposed to. He makes his own paths more than doing the puzzles. Overall, he chooses other SmartGames style one player games more, but he does like this.

   It’s a little pricey for how much it gets played with, but maybe your kiddo will be different. And it has good educational value even playing without the puzzles.

    I ordred these for my STEM classroom. After 2 days of using (not all day) the majority of the squirrels will not operate correctly. This is a super great problem solving activity and I love the varying levels of difficulty for different student ages, but the durability of the squirrels is awful. I now have 10 kits of the game and only 6 working squirrels.

    This ‘game’ is hard! It’s great for older kids as it comes with puzzles to solve using only so many of the track pieces to achieve the nut into the basket. It’s so simple and great for 10+ to figure out how to get squirrelman to his goal! It’s not super sturdy but good enough for older kids. Also, the squirrel is a pull back & let go, so young kids would probably ruin his mechanical parts real quick. It does come with 2 squirrels & multiple nuts. Great project/game!
