   As a fan of both DnD and Stranger Things, this is a really cute piece to have in the gaming collection. The campaign is a fun introduction for beginners to DnD. The only complaint I could have are the two minis. We plan to adhere them to a firmer base as the entire piece is more rubbery than compared to the more rigid nature of minis you would get from Reaper and the like. Neither my partner nor I have bought a starter box or another box like this one for some time, so I do not know if these are on par with what they are currently putting out in the boxes now, or if it was just hiw these ones were for Hasbro. Other than that, it is great! (btw, me= gamer 10+ yr starting w/2E, partner started when DnD first came out, has played everything inbetween, and currently edits for indie creators)

   I already had the regular starter set but when I saw this I had to get it. The story is good and the premade characters are great for when a player forgets to make a new character. The mini is okay but you get what you pay for. The rule packet is what you expect it to be. At the moment I got it it was very affordable for what it is it seems as though the product randomly dips down in price then goes back up. I recommend not to buy it when it is over twenty dollars because when I got it, it was twelve.
   

5. Dungeons & Dragons Stranger Things Edition from Hasbro Verified Buyer – 1 March 2025

   I just unboxed everything and it looks really great. It’s in a proper box (so less flimsy than FFG’s Star Wars starter sets). Of course, most of the box is still empty space, but that allows you to stick notepads and pencils in it. It comes with 2 Demogorgons as promised – one lightly painted and the other unpainted. There are 6 polyhedral dice, which cover the basics, but you’ll want to pick up at least one other set to reduce the passing back and forth. There’s a 41-page glossy Starter Set Rulebook with a smattering of art from the show, but (imho) they should have included more art. There’s also “Mike Wheeler’s Hunt for the Thessalhydra”, which is written like it’s from a kid’s jotter (admittedly a kid with very neat handwriting. Again, there’s a small amount of “handrawn” artwork and a couple of small maps. It looks like it is quite a short adventure (shorter than the main starter set), but I’ll need to play through it first. The Upside Down is mentioned. Lastly, there are 5 pre-made paper character sheets (Hill Dwarf Bard, Wood Elf Cleric, Human Paladin, Half-Orc Ranger, and Haalf-Elf Wizard). You’ll want to make copies of these. All characters start at level 3 and are Neutral or Lawful Good. I’ll update this review after I get time to play this with a group.

   I orderd this recently, it’s been in a wish list for a while and with the knew season coming out, as well as not knowing how much longer these sets with be available for the price I purchased it and I’m very happy, the value isn’t as great as the Rick and morty set. But if you live stranger things even just the first few seasons, this is a fun and good product to get. Ps. The seller was great, answered my questions of if the product was brand new or partially used and I got my sealed set that I can wait a while to open.

   This game is NOT for lame adults that just don’t get it. You just. Don’t. Get it. So go play Pathfinder or GURPS or something, old dude. This game is for smart, creative kids that know there is something wrong going on, and they are the only ones who will believe it and stop it! This adventure was written by Mike Wheeler. Totally. It’s about a thessalhydra. I am not sure really what that is, but it’s BAD, okay? And you have to stop it. And be cool buds with the king and stuff. Make sure you bring your friends. You need help. At least four kids will work. And a DM. And if you have extra sets of dice and pencils those will help a lot also. This game would be better if it had a bit more writing on how to make your own characters. And maybe a bit more for the DM on how to make more adventures after the players defeat the thessalhydra. But really, it’s an inexpensive way to have a night or two of entertainment, as long as you buy here on boardgamesweekly.com. The list price is kind of high, but since it’s basically always on sale you should be OK.
