I have played carrom a lot and wanted one for the house so that we can play and have the fun. This board is pretty good but the quality. Overall this is a decent board however, when used with powder the surface is very smooth and the striker bounces off the board very quickly. I don’t think this is a champion board but it would work well with friends and family.

The playing surface is unquestionably great, very smooth. The paint on the outer cushions is chipping off, but it is only cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect the boards performance. The board is heavy but is expected for a 16 mm ply. The striker and the coins set is of very average quality. Several coins came up with irregular edges, poor quality finish. I had to buy another set. But I’m happy with the board itself.

Soo..after reading a lot of reviews on the Surco carom boards..I decided to take the plunge with the 16mm one. I am a casual player..grew up with carom and wanted to introduce my US raised kids & husband to the game. I also have a little baby who insists on standing right on top of anything we are playing. So my requirements were sturdy…heavy enough to be put on a bed if need be, and come as a complete set.
Well..this board exceeded my expectations. Its super heavy..way better than what I grew up with…its big and the striker moves smoothly over the surface. The finishing is ok on the black edge..some imperfections but I don’t mind those. The playing center is perfect. It is also well reinforced on the bottom. I will have to put some fabric or backing cardboard on the bottom since the wood reinforcement(in the center only..not the edge) is unfinished and is rough to touch. It came with a storage cover which was nice. The striker & coins were plastic & wood respectively and work great. In summary..if you grew up playing this game..this is a perfect board. I would say even a 8mm may do for you..if you need a less heavy one.

This is the second board i have ordered from boardgamesweekly.com, they all seem imported from a similar source. SISSCA seems to be the more trusted official brand. This second board i have received was very good, but they are risking cracking on the boarder joints, and this one has very minor cracking (Most likly due to regular handling during longer shipping routes. ) Which isnt the worst thing if it still holds it solid form of being a square. The surface is maintained well so the first board even though had a good surface was warped by 5 degrees or so from joints breaking and bending thus warping the entire board, was able to bend it back and play some games but sent it back with refund and bought this board which is a thicker ply. Thicker ply is gonna be better for a couple of reasons, so id say this one is a safe bet and dont hesitate to return and try again for this awesome game. Buy different strikers find one you like and maybe a few sets of carrom men, some act differently.

I was very excited when I received the Carrom Board. Once I opened the package, I was very disappointed. The frame had chipped paint and chipped wood in few places. The surface of the board wasn’t as smooth as I expected it to be for the price that I paid. The bottom of the board isn’t something that I would let the kids handle as it could hurt them. Now, I wish I should have bought it from my local indian store. I went with this product despite the bad reviews thinking that I would receive a superior product for the price and of course from boardgamesweekly.com. As mentioned by a different reviewer, it smelled horrible but that wasn’t an issue for me compared to the quality of the board itself.

The board was supplied by boardgamesweekly.com and it is a great quality board. The plywood is 16mm and the surface is very smooth. There were quite a few cosmetic blemishes, like, scratches on the black wooden border and the corner wood seams are not joined seamlessly. But overall it is a solid board. There are no carrom powder supplied with it so I had to go to billiboards.com to purchase the potato starch based powder which was perfect for this board. It comes with a striker and carrom men which are of good quality as well. Overall I am very happy with the product and we already had a blast playing with family and friends.
