   Upon recieving the set I was immediately impressed with the quality of the glass gems and reproduction metal coins. The gems are all faceted the same as the card art and the box and pouches they come in are very handy. I noticed a small discrepancy in what I received from what was in the item description, it said it came with 7 gold tokens and mine only had 5. Customer service immediately responded to my inquiry and sent two more out free of charge, shipping covered. The gold coins are very nice and have a good weight to them. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. The only cons that I can think of are the blue gems are a bit too light and the green and brown look very similar when playing on a dark surface, but these are really non issues.

   If you are a fan of Splendor, I highly recommend getting these upgraded gem components. The are stunning and beautiful. The gems are made from glass and are the shape of the gem pictured on the chips in the game. The colors are vibrant and they sparkle when under a light. The coins are made from metal, and have a beautiful look, weight, and feel to them. Each set of gems comes in its own velvet pouch. this set is perfect and pristine. I was so impressed. Worth every penny.

   The gems are fragile if dropped on a hard surface in my opinion, but I think it’s due to their size, weight, & mainly being glass. The gems do have a good weight to them unlike my previous gem sets from different merchants (pun intended). As someone stated before the onyx and emeralds are hard to tell apart on dark surfaces, BUT this has been fixed! see picture for details. The Sapphire gem color has been fixed as well! See pictures for details. I posted a picture of what the gems look like on the newer splendor playmat and in the Broken Token wooden insert that holds all the expansion/promos. All in all I’m giving 5 stars because of Splendor Global’s great customer service, size of the gems, & the weight of the gems. If I could have a separate rating for durability. I would give durability 3.5 stars because they’re somewhat fragile along the edges, but they are glass! So, it is to be expected. The Gold Coin is extremely nice! I haven’t seen one like this anywhere else! The coin has a really good weight to it like a real coin would! The packaging for the gems is amazing! They are all individually sealed to keep them from getting damaged during shipping! My gems arrived in perfect condition and were very easy to open with a pair of scissors! All in all I have purchased 3 sets. One for me and two sets for presents! A few very minor changes imo and these gems will be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! (imo) – Tweak the onyx color, diamond size, ruby size

   This is exactly what I’ve been looking for the past two years I’ve played Splendor! I kept telling myself to go to a hobby store to find cheap gems that would fit the bill, but thankfully these were here and they are the EXACT cut, shape, and color of the game. While these are not necessary to play the game, they do add quite a bit of fun in making you feel like an actual gem merchant 🙂 I grew up playing Dread Pirate with my family, so I’ve always loved games with gem and coin tokens that felt real. The gold coins are probably the most impressive part of this set, they have a lovely weight to them and impeccable design.

   My ONE complaint is the price. The set is exquisite, but I’m not really sure it’s worth $50+… C’est la vie, I suppose. If you’re new to Splendor, hold off on the purchase. If you’re an avid player, you’ll definitely want this set.

   Love these, they fit the gem tokens from *that game* almost perfectly. Namely, the gold token – a 1646 Dutch Florin which is an incredibly rare coin (nearly all were melted down after the Dutch were driven from Brazil, and a genuine one is valued between $35K and $50K) and is the exact coin represented in the game art. This set is the only place I was able to find a reproduction ANYWHERE and makes this set worth the buy alone.

   Minus one star for the blue gem specifically – it’s not faceted at all and seems flat next to the rest. The black is a little too black as well (token art is more brown) and the white stone could be larger and pointier.

   As stated though, the real star in this set is the gold coin in an overall nice set. I recommend.

   Edit 2/19: gems have changed – blue I received is different than the current set (mine are rounded not faceted, and my green isn’t as deep)

   These are nicely crafted and welcome accessories to the Splendor game. It really does improve the overall game playing experience. It adds a nice tactile aspect to the game you don’t quite get with the game’s “gem” chips. We often notice the difference when we are playing without them versus playing with them.

   If you love playing Splendor, you are sure to appreciate the added benefit of this gem set to your game playing experience.
