So I take my mom for cancer treatments, and bought this because she LOVES Scrabble, and sometimes we’re there for hours.
We break this out, pass the time, laugh, and then when we don’t feel like playing anymore we just zip it up. And then!! Next time, after riding around in my car for a week, we break it out, and just start where we left off. All the tiles snap in place, and it all fits snuggly into the attached carrier. One of the little tile holders was broken when I received, but I don’t care because it’s just the 2 of us playing anyway, and has brought both endless joy and giggles (I always play the dirty words)

Seriously the best. We take it to the lake, park, camping, picnic, road trip, vacation, anywhere. The pieces are a little small so losing them could be easy, but they secure into their slots on the board so pieces falling off is no concern.

I bought this to replace the identical product that I had for years, when I tried playing it recently after a couple years of not traveling and discovered I had no blank tiles…which then led to counting the tiles and determining I was missing about 15!
That’s the basis of the warning in the title of this review. It’s a travel kit, so naturally, pieces are small and easy to lose along the way, so just be careful about making sure you’re putting everything away correctly when you close it up.
Great way to play Scrabble when away from home. I docked it one star because the travel case should have better built in storage for the paper and pencils you’ll obviously need to keep score while playing. It’s annoying to clean up the tiles when done because of the grid that holds the tiles in place, but that’s obviously intentional and good since it is a travel kit that will be subject to bumps in the road and turbulence, so no stars taken off for that.

This is a replacement for a decades-old travel Scrabble set. The construction is good, the case zips closed and there’s enough room in there for a few dice and Yahtzee scorecards. As a Scrabble game the tiles are pretty small, which is a fair tradeoff for the convenient size. The tiles adhere well to the board, and if you stop mid-game your rack of tiles can be snapped closed and secured to the back of the game board so the letters remain secret and available to resume later. I find the rack difficult to use during the game, and instead use anything handy as a screen to keep them secret. That’s not enough of a negative to deduct a star from the review score.

The racks for unused letters are still a tricky proposition, and the size, though smaller, is not as compact as older versions. The same holding mechanism that the board has would give greater peace of mind that pieces won’t spill everywhere while trying to decide a word on the run. After a few weeks of using it, I think the older magnetic versions still have the edge in the portability stakes.
