   Unless you want to invest 2 or 3 hundred dollars in chess pieces this is a real pretty set. They look great in the boardgamesweekly.com write up but, when you get them they look even better. Can you tell they are not made of marble – sure you can – but not at first glance. And they have their own rich luster about them that real marble pieces probably don’t have. I combined the set with one of those green vinyl boards – very nice.

   First of all, these high polymer chess sets seem to be nearly indestructible and are very well weighted for good stability during high speed (5 minute blitz) chess. This is the first high polymer set I have found that have 3 3/4″ kings instead of the bigger 4 1/4″ kings which require a larger chess board with 2 3/8″ squares. This set needs a standard size chess board with 2 1/4″ squares. The pieces look amazingly like marble and could be used with a marble chess board, but are not easy to break like marble pieces. The set will match with a roll-up vinyl or mouse-pad style chess board with solid green and buff color squares. The best color match I have found on boardgamesweekly.com is with the WE Games Green Mousepad Chessboard (a thin mousepad board which can be rolled up and stored or carried in a standard size mailing tube) which has a bright green color (not the typical forest green which has more blue in it).
