A lot of people like to poop on this version of Dune but if the OG 2019 “reprint” is too much for you, this is an amazing alternative. It packs a lot of the same stuff in about an hour. Keep in mind naturally it makes the game less deep strategically but that’s a fair trade imo

This is an easy to learn Dune themed game with a good amount of replay ability in under an hour. I got the box for this game and although all the pieces were there, everything was punched. The box was beat up also. This is the first obviously used game I got from boardgamesweekly.com. It was disappointing.

I am a big fan of the Dune board game published in 1979 by Avalon Hills, which was reissued in 2019 by Gale Force Nine. It is one of those games that you definitely have to set aside an entire afternoon to properly play, which makes it a difficult game to actually convince people to play.
This 2021 version, which is a tie in with Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel, is a much more stripped-down version. Many of the mechanics from the original game are present in this version, but there are some changes to make the game more streamline and easily accessible to people who aren’t quite into board games as hardcore fans are.
Because the game plays over a maximum of 5 rounds, this version of Dune goes by much faster. I’ve played entire games in under an hour. It doesn’t compare to the complex and vastly more strategic original game, but it is a quick and fun game to get people to the table with. While I enjoy the classic Dune board game more, I feel this one will probably see more gameplay because of how quick and easy it is to play.

Game is great fun for fans of the latest film that came out. Don’t have the original Dune game from the 80’s to compare it to. Overall, fun exciting and captures the essence of the Dune cinematic experience.

It’s fun and easy to play. Doesn’t take too long but worth playing.

Box was a bit dinged up, but nothing major. Game is quite fun. I’ve played it about 8 times now with different groups of friends and they all seem to have fun. Not for ultra casual gamers though. It has a bit of a learning curve, but is much more well balanced late game than alternatives like Catan. The different factions also help keep things interesting!

Really fun version of Dune that gives it a faster pace. If what you like most about the other Dunes is bartering with each other this version doesn’t have that built into it, although you could just do it anyway. It has crazy tense moments when seeing who outsmarted who in battles. Overall it’s very fun.

Having played this version and the remake of the 70s Dune, this plays very quick with drastically simpler rules. A good appetizer game when you don’t have alot of time, or a sample if you would like the more complex version
