   The set arrived and upon opening it I noticed the board has a slight concave shape almost like it’s hanging low in the center, is this normal?. I tried to capture a picture here on the side showing the ends that line up with the black edge of the table while the center part the board indicates the concave shape.

   This chessboard is an absolutely fantastic product. As someone that has always liked chess but has never been able to master it, this is the tool that will get you thinking like a grandmaster! Pros: – Through and through, it feels very high quality. Think glass and metal for the entire build, even the power button. Comes with a velvet storage chase for chess pieces – Screen is incredibly high resolution and very clear to read. Runs android and even has the ability to use it for things like web browsing, should you want to. – Strong battery life. Doesn’t need to be plugged in at all times. – Multiple game modes including local bot, online multiplayer, and local two player. – Pieces are recognized by the board and they will highlight moves from the computer or if a piece is misplaced. – If you enable analysis, you have the ability to see if a move is good or not right on the board itself. Will highlight risk of move on the board itself in different colors. Cons: – I really wish that there was a better way to store the pieces. These are super special in that they are recognized by the board, and I am incredibly worried about losing them. – Very strange that there is no “learn how to play chess” mode. My wife and kids don’t know how to play and I feel that this should teach you. It does not and assumes, off the bat, that you have experience playing chess. Literally explains nothing. – two player gameplay is hidden under “clock”, which wasn’t very intuitive to me. All of the cons are nitpicks… this thing is a pleasure to use, a conversation piece, and a real looker. If you’re into chess, you’re going to love this thing!

    great to play online but looking at a Chessboard instead of a screen. I wish there is an option for online game where you have a bigger timer as a bit small on the screen.
    The pieces are a bit small, so I recommend to play on a same size board before buying. I drop the pieces often so I would probably prefer the Chestnut Pro.
    Since you need to play your opponent move, it is not great to play in blitz as you waste time each move. More designed to play in 10min minimum (rapid).
    Playing in high luminosity (like outside) does not work: you cannot distinguish the light unfortunately.
    Overall very good product.

    absolument exceptionnel, un pure plaisir, j’avais deja le dgt centaure qui était bien mais pour jouer en multi sur les plateformes ce chessnut evo est une tuerie, hyper qualitatif, super réactif en multi (me concernant sur chess com), j’avais peur des pièces en plastique mais elles ont la bonne taille et sont de très bonne qualité.
    Jouer en carriere, contre des bots ou en multi c’est le jeu d’echec supreme.
    Je précise qu’il est possible d’inverser l’écran (faire une rotation d’écran) comme pour n’importe qu’elle tablette android.
    Vraiment hyper content.
    A voir dans le temps si ils conservent les droits des plateformes et si cette version d’android ne peut pas être rendu obsolète un jour.
    En tout cas bravo au concepteur, beau travail.

    Dead on arrival. Never powered up. Very dissapointed. Dark colored squares are very light. Pieces are very small and very light. Never got to experience the AI or the tablet that comes along with the chess set.

    I have always enjoyed playing chess. I like the strategy and the challenge it presents with having to think multiple steps ahead to be successful. The problem is that I don’t really haven’t had anyone else in life who enjoys playing chess with me regularly. Recently my youngest daughter has expressed interest and started learning how to play. So far she has been enjoying it. I saw this, and while it is expensive and a splurge, I figured it would allow me to have some bonding time with her as it can help her play and learn the game. Also, it will give me something to do that is brain-engaging and replaces time that may otherwise be spent on Facebook or news sites. I have to say this exceeded my expectations and is really amazing. First, there are so many options. You can play face to face against someone else, play against the AI or play against someone else in the world. I am not big into playing any game online against strangers, so I haven’t really tested that out much. But I have played the AI and against people in my house. From the beginner perspective of my daughter, you can turn on hints. These hints light up the squares on the board as the board knows what each piece is. It will show you all the different places that piece can go and the quality of each move based upon the AI model of your choice. This has helped her to really see how the pieces move and also let’s her see if she would be open to losing that piece from say a knight. Having these hints has helped to level the playing field between her and I now. It also prevents her from making an illegal move. From my perspective, it is fun because I can play against the AI and the difficulty. The technology is really cool how it identifies each piece and tracks it. The board was easy to hook up to the Internet and update. I know there are a lot more features I have yet to discover and look forward to doing so. The ONLY issue I ran into is when I was playing in the dining room, the squares on the board were flickering all over. I couldn’t figure out what was going on because it had been working all the other times I tried it and was concerned the board had gone bad already. I tried it again later in another place and it worked just fine. It turns out that playing with this board under dimmable LED lights (or at least the ones we have) will cause it to flicker if the lights are dimmed. This isn’t a big deal now that I know what it is and just make sure the lights aren’t dimmed at all, but I wanted to point that out in case anyone hit it. Overall this is really fun and I look forward to many hours ahead with my daughter playing this!
