   They are satisfactory but not as elegant as one might believe based on the pictures. Given the price I would recommend you consider all alternatives both on and off boardgamesweekly.com. Many chess sets are not sold here, and this may afford more options. I’d say that at a lower price point with clearer pictures this would be acceptable. 1/3-1/2 the price is suggested.

   Expensive for something that looks like it’s coming out of the dye, with the lines not smoothed out. I wouldn’t have paid $50 for this. But for all the trouble of returning it, I’m gonna keep it. If you want something very nice, you’re going to have to pay a minimum of $300

   These pieces are BIG! Exactly what I wanted for my 2″ board!
   They have a nice weight to them, and will not easily be knocked over.
   The pieces are hollow, so you can add more weight by filling them if you choose to.
   The only minor issue I had involved one of the bases for one of my Knights.
   As mentioned, the pieces are hollow, and they have a stick-on padded disk for a base.
   One of them came off during shipping, or was not applied properly from the beginning.
   After reapplying the base I have had no issues with it coming off again.

   Considering the price the quality of the pieces are disappointing. The bases are not even lined up. There are supposed to be metal and there really is no weight to them at all. Would not recommend.

   This chess pieces are simply gorgeous. Well made strong and shiny. They look great on both a modern or antique chessboard. Doesn’t matter where you put them it looks they were made for it. Each piece is very distinct from one another contrary to othersi. I love them. Thank you.

   What a beautiful chest set. Very happy with the look, quality and feel, at a great price. I just want to disapprove some of the whiners who have reviewed this set. Someone said the pawns were disproportionately large. Nonsense. The set is listed As a 3 inch set. I compared my 3 inch tournament pawn with this metal pawn. You can see they are approximately the same size. One Whiner said they were too light. I also compared the triple Weighed tournament wood set with the metal set. The metal set is heavier. (see pictures) One of my fellow reviewer’s had an easy solution for making them heavier if you would like. (Filling them with lead beads or BBs.) One Whiner claim that they were wobbly. That is complete and utter nonsense. They all stand very firm on their felt pads. Some people just gots to complain. The only thing I see is a very slight seam on all the pieces. For the price it doesn’t bother me. If you would like to pay three times this amount, there are metal ones without the seam. Go for it! If you would like a beautiful metal set that will always look good and timeless, this is the one. At this point I just wish I got the bigger one. Checkmate!

   I made my own chess board (16″ square overlaid on a 24″ square support frame) to place captured pieces and the additional Queens which are included in the set. After several months of reviewing chess pieces online… I finally narrowed it down to this set. I am so glad I did. The feel is great and the weight is perfect.
