   Got these a gift to my older brother, granted I don’t like the idea of strengthening his forces as now I’ll need another box of paladins.. nonetheless he really enjoys basing these guys and his army definitely looks amazing!

   Putting these models together is pretty much a matter of gluing arms to the body, but the point of contact between the arms and body is small, and the pieces themselves are small. Holding the arms to the body in just the right position while the glue sets is a challenge, and get the arms lined up so that there is no gapping has been difficult. If, like me, you really just want to paint stuff, I would say steer clear. Maybe there are ways experienced folks deal with the fiddly bits, but for me, a novice, it’s been frustrating. I don’t play AoS; just want to learn to paint and thought these look good painted. If I ever finish putting them together.

   The models themselves are fine but the issue is that this set only comes with 20 boltspitters for 24 models, and it doesn’t tell you this anywhere on the box or the manual. This is particularly annoying because Skinks get plus 1 to hit in a unit of 20 or more, so if you split them into two units of 12, you lose this bonus, and if you do one unit of 20 boltspitters, you have 4 skink models that are basically useless. The javelins, shields, and clubs all have enough parts for 24 models, it’s just the boltspitters that are short 4.

   This is unfortunately the result of Games Workshop being lazy and re-using old sprues from WFB for AoS (these skink sprues were first printed in 2002). I guess nobody bothered to look over the sprues to make sure there were enough of each weapon type.
