   This is a “is the expansion required for all players” reviews. Simple answer is no, if you are new to Tapestry, you have a lot of amazing game to play before you ever need to dip your toes into what I think is a great addition to the game, but in the end does just give you more options and some new shiny landmark pieces to play with. Plans and Ploys are going to add 10 new civilizations for you to shuffle into your base game supply. They all play entirely different from each other and manage not to repeat any themes or skills from the base games civilizations. Some of the ones we’ve found most exciting are the Aliens which get some early benefit from the exploration track and the space tiles. I think most all new owners of this expansion will probably want to check them out pretty quickly. The Recyclers civ are focused on the technology track and get other tech upgrades which is often a popular track for many players to rely on. I’ve found that each of the 10 civilizations with this expansion each try to focus on specific aspects and functions of the game, they all seem to be built around interacting with and enhancing the game more deeply than the previous ones. You’ll also acquire 7 new landmark buildings, one of them is acquired via a new tapestry card, and another is gained via one of the space exploration tiles. The remaining 5 are part of the only true change to how Tapestry plays; each landmark has an associated card with a game triggering condition. Each player gets a landmark as the game starts that will only be theirs to play, once you achieve the activation trigger you can place your shiny new landmark onto the board. I enjoy this addition and think it can speed up the first beginning turns of Tapestry as you have at least one solid goal to work towards and the extra landmark can help generate some needed extra resources early on if it helps fill a district. The smaller additions are a few new space tiles that give points for your progress on other board tracks; these are highly situational though and sometimes might provide no benefit at all to an exploration player. Some new tapestry cards are also added that give more options for attack or defense for example. All shuffled into our regular deck of cards though I can’t say we notice them being extra special or can tell this is a new card we’ve never seen. I am happy for their addition and new options they bring to the game but I can’t say I’ve noticed them much. The Civilizations are what you’re looking forward to the most with this expansion; all the other little bits are just nice little additions that you likely won’t notice being as big a part of the game. I have however found this to be a great expansion for our needs, starting with a landmark and getting to play all new combinations of Civilizations is what we wanted and it is what we got. Can absolutely recommend it for any seasoned player who is looking for continuing the fun and adding more player combinations to a game they already love playing. New players as I said should hold off for a while, you can play your base game for dozens of plays before you’d need this. A+ Great addition for those who enjoy and play Tapestry frequently.

   This game fascinates me. It is clearly unbalanced: civilizations aren’t equal, and the Tapestry cards are hugely unbalanced too. Some are useless and some others great. Normally, that should be enough to make me dislike a game, but I absolutely love this one! I play it all the time, and the interesting thing is that scores can get high with rather bad civilizations and tapestry cards, so maybe it’s not that unbalanced. At the end, there are so many possible strategies that it can be played dozens of times without problem. It is now in my top 3 board games (and I have around a hundred of them).

   Huge amount of civilisation to play Tapestry with. Like the new addition of personal objectives, gives a sense of direction to first time players. New trap cards add more twist to conquer actions.

   Did not have as much as I was expecting size wise, however actually playing with it several times now, I am super happy I added it in. The included bag was a great touch, and it felt like the entire expansion was designed to expand the game but by adding new aspects that made it fresh rather than rehashed material. It adds quality of life aspects missing before and also includes new civilizations that feel like they are vital to the game itself. All in all, a great game, and a great expansion as well!

   Tapestry is a very good game. You will be able to enjoy many replays. The one knock on it is it is a very feast or famine game. An early lucky pull can put you beyond reach of your opponents. We have played about 20 times mostly with the expansion. We still enjoy it.

    I have most of the Stonemaier games and am a huge fan. Their games are well-designed, play extermely well and are beautifully crafted. Also can’t say enough about their excellent customer support: answering gameplay questions, rules interpretations, and providing replacement parts FOR FREE! Plans & Ploys expansion for Tapestry adds some nice elements to the base, maintains the quality of the physical game elements and is a worthwhile addition.
